Progress of the Work
- 2006: An Executive Editorial Committee of four scholars begins final review and editing of a selection of the most essential articles, for possible early publication of a one-volume Essential Encyclopeida of Hinduism. Work on completing the 18-volume EH, by numerous scholars around the world, continues at a steady pace. (Chief Editor's Report)
- 2005: Mr. Kolapen turns over collected articles to IHRF. Two Manuscript Reading and Review conferences were organized. The first was held in Rishikesh, India, during May-June; the second was held in Somerset, New Jersey, in August
- 2004: Chief Editor made two extended trips to India to oversee manuscipt editing conferences.
- 2003: Mahalingum Kolapen engaged to complete collection of articles. Chief Editor's Report

- 2000: In the Fall, a strategy and planning meeting was held in Columbia with Pujya Swamiji. In November Dr.Rao went to India to meet with scholars and editores around the country.
- 1999: Dr. Ratna Lahiri joins Columbia office. Work continues. Chief Editor report
- 1998: University of South Carolina offers six spacious office suites in a downtown highrise, as well as the ongoing assistance of five graduate students to staff the office.
- 1997: Editorial conference in Rishikesh
- 1996: National satellite offices set up in Madras, Varanasi, Pune, Porbandar and Rishikesh; EH offices in USA are moved to the University of South Carolina, Columbia, SC. IHRF Newsletter (pdf)
- 1995: Dr.Rao took voluntary retirement from the Department of Religion, UVA,and startes full time work with EH.
- 1994: National offices established in Delhi. University of South Carolina provides academic setting for the Encyclopedia of Hinduism Project in Columbia, South Carolina. IHRF Newsletter (pdf)
- 1993: Offices for the EH are set up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with Dr.K.L.Seshagiri Rao as the Chief Editor and Dr. Kaushal Sinha as CEO.
- 1992: Work begun with hundreds of noted scholars writing and editing articles
- 1990: Dr.Kaushal and Mrs. Arunima Sinha approach Hal French at the University of South Carolina for the support of the Religious Studies Department
- 1989: The India Heritage Research Foundation was established with a Board of Trustees and Swami Chidanand Saraswati as its Chairman.
- 1989: A board of editors was formed and associate editors appointed.
- 1989- 1992: In the next several years a series of preparatory meetings were held in different countries.
- 1987: Dr. K.L. Seshagiri Rao first meets with Swami Chidanand Saraswati and they agree to collaborate on a project to create a comprehensive Encyclopedia of Hinduism.
